Although the car is made of steel and has no flesh and blood, its life span and physical condition are similar to that of a human, and it also has a “life cycle”. Cars in different periods have very different “physical conditions”.
The author roughly divides the life cycle of a car into five stages: “peak period”, “Microsoft period”, “menopausal period”, “twilight period” and “dangerous period”. In these five stages, the maintenance and repair focus of the car are also different. You can take corresponding “maintenance” measures according to the life stage of your car.
1-2 years-“peak period”
The first two years of the car are the “peak period” of life. It can be said that when the car is in the best condition, it is equivalent to a person’s youth. People in this period are full of passion, bold words and lofty ambitions, daring to dare to do, and with endless energy, they don’t seem to be tired. Cars in this period are also in excellent condition. As long as regular maintenance is carried out, there will be basically no problems, but cars older than two years will begin to replace some of the most wearable parts. Therefore, manufacturers generally promise a two-year warranty, because there will be no major quality problems in the first two years of the new car.
2-4 years-“Microsoft Period”
After two years of use, the car began to enter the “Microsoft stage.” It’s no longer as vigorous and energetic as in the previous period. In this period, some parts of the car need to be replaced frequently to replenish energy.
Brake pads: The car needs to be replaced with new brake pads after two or three years of use. When a car is sent for repair, the brake pads must first be checked, because the brake pads are the first line of defense for driving safety. According to experience, the brake pads will wear out in about two years. Of course, the exact usage period depends on the driver’s habits. If you are the kind of person who likes to slam on the accelerator and the brakes, the brake pads will definitely wear out more severely and the life span will be shorter.
Fuel pump: When the car has been driven for more than two years, it is almost time for the fuel pump to be cleaned or replaced.
Shock absorber: When the car reaches three or four years, it may not run as smoothly as a new car. In this case, you should check the car’s shock absorber. The function of the shock absorber is to reduce the vibration of the car. It is a part of the suspension system. If the spring of the shock absorber is no longer elastic, it will shake badly when driving at high speed, and it is especially dangerous in rainy days.
4-6 years-“menopause”
After using a car for 4-6 years, he entered the “menopause”. Just as people lose their temper when they enter the “menopause” period, problems with the “menopausal” car are commonplace, because many parts of the car are beginning to age, oil and water leaks from time to time, and small problems are endless. However, if the cars of this period are well maintained, they are still “slick and slippery” from the outside. Some savvy car owners take advantage of this period to start changing cars. Cars in this period can be sold at a good price, and they can also dump all the upcoming problems to others.
6-10 years-“Twilight period”
After 6-10 years of use, the car enters the “twilight period”. Like an old man in his 60s and 70s, there are serious illnesses three to sixty-nine, and minor illnesses occur every day. They are really sad for their children. Cars in this period are also worried about the car owners. “General strikes” are three or sixty-nine, and “small strikes” occur every day. Everything that can be broken has been broken once, and the only parts that are not broken may be the replaced parts. During this period, you must strengthen the maintenance of the car, regularly replace the wearing parts, check the condition of the car at the repair station or maintenance center from time to time, and do routine inspections and maintenance work before and after the car is delivered.
